Instructions

• Put the kefir grains in a plastic colander and rinse them under running water until they are clean. The water should be at a pleasantly warm temperature.
• Put the clean kefir grains in the mason jar and add the room-warm milk. Place the lid of the mason jar LOOSELY on the jar, so that arising gases can escape. Cover the glass ultimately with a cloth to protect the kefir grains from light. Let the mason jar sit out at room temperature.
• Stir this mixture once a day with a plastic spoon. The kefir is ready after a few days and can be filtered through a plastic sieve.
• Note: After about 1-2 days the kefir will have a mild taste. With each additional day, the kefir becomes more sour.
• Store the strained kefir in a plastic container in the refrigerator.
• Wash the left over kefir grains in the plastic strainer and start over.
